Jeffery Lyth, QSP Leadership
“How a 26-year career in safety has led to ‘an opinion profoundly at odds with what is generally accepted’
In this presentation Jeff uses the path of his career to describe the evolution of traditional ‘safety management’ in the workplace, to illustrate the unintended consequences we currently suffer from, and to introduce ‘new view’ thinking that enhances (rather than replaces) what we currently do.
Emphasis will be placed on some practical do’s and don’ts to help create more a holistic strategy for organizations to break through plateaus in safety performance currently being experienced by many organizations and industry sectors.
I have become a part of a rapidly growing international movement that seeks to reform or evolve workplace safety. It is called ‘safety differently’, ‘safety II’, or the ‘new view’, and it is from within this movement that we can see the limitations and unintended consequences of the common approach, as well as the ideas and methods organizations can use to eliminate or mitigate them and improve overall performance.
