Position Overview
The City of Kamloops has an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full-time Safety Advisor to join the
Human Resources and Safety Department.
The Safety Advisor is responsible for ensuring Municipal,
Provincial, and Federal regulatory compliance and in helping to maintain a safe and healthy workplace. The
Advisor plays a significant role in eliminating or reducing the high costs associated with injuries, penalties,
property damage, and fines.
The Safety Advisor is also responsible for coordinating in-service training
programs, conducting inspections, and performing complex investigations, including those involving
significant motor vehicle incidents.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
Two-year diploma in OH&S or four-year degree in OH&S related studies, such as Industrial Hygiene;
or equivalent combination of education and experience (CRSP, CIH, ROH).
Minimum of three years of experience in a safety practitioner’s role.
Knowledge of labour relations as related to OH&S issues.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass
required).
Preferred Qualifications:
CRSP – Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
Experience creating, co-ordinating and delivering safety-related training.
Experience conducting safety-related audits (ISO, COR etc.).
Occupational First Aid Level 2.
Minimum of five years of experience working in a municipal government setting.
Starting salary for this position is $80,983.50 with eligibility for annual general increases and performance
salary increases. Please note this is an Exempt Management position.

vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police

Effective November 1, 2021, the City of Kamloops implemented a Covid-19 Vaccination Policy that defines
the conditions and expectations for employees regarding vaccination against COVID-19. The policy requires
all employees hired after October 31, 2021, to be fully vaccinated, unless they can establish that they
cannot be fully vaccinated for a valid reason related to a protected ground under the BC Human Rights
Code. It is a term of acceptance of employment that you agree to comply with all vaccination requirements
that apply to the City of Kamloops.
