Working together to provide essential services to communities across Western Canada, we are hiring a Safety & Compliance Manager on a permanent basis. This position can be located at our Home Office in Saskatoon, SK or any of our Zone Offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, or Winnipeg.

What you’ll do:
You will develop short and long-term safety strategies while also promoting adherence to regulatory requirements, safe work practices and procedures. This is accomplished by leading a team in the review, revision, design/development and implementation of general workplace occupational health and safety, fleet safety compliance, emergency management and pressure vessel regulatory compliance procedures and programs for the Energy Products and Services business unit.

  • You will guide and inform stakeholders when amendments occur in regulatory safety and compliance requirements (ex. Transport Canada, ECCC, OH&S, CSA, Boiler & Pressure Vessels, TSSA, TSA, ABSA, BCSA, NSC etc.) related to the propane and petroleum industry.
  • You will assess risk, correct compliance deficiencies identified by internal and external examinations, identify root cause of compliance exceptions, and develop corrective action plans to ensure effective internal controls are in place.
  • You will collaborate with other internal corporate safety team members such as People and Culture, External Stakeholder Engagement, Legal, Logistics, Insurance and other FCL team members in the technical applied services fields on corporate safety initiatives to improve overall safety performance of the CRS and ensure alignment to corporate safety goals.
  • Leading the Energy Safety and Compliance team in the continued development and
  • Maintenance of an overall health and safety program for the Energy Products & Services
  • Business unit to reach the desired outcome of safe operations.
  • You will provide leadership to a team of three: Propane Safety and Health Coordinator, Propane Safety and Compliance Advisor, Petroleum Safety and Compliance Advisor to carry out assigned work.
  • Overseeing, researching, performing and co-performing tasks related to the management of subscribed contractor safety management systems such as ISNET, ComplyWorks,
  • Contractor compliance for the sustainment and expansion of propane business contracts.
  • Maintaining professional development activities to maintain professional certifications
such as CRSP, CHSC, ECS Auditor, participate in other safety and technical advancement opportunities.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) & Sustainability and:

  • You have a 2-year diploma
  • You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in all aspects of safety management systems, including 5 years of regulatory compliance (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
  • You can apply the resources required for the operations of a department with technical, regulatory, and industrial specific detail, and a strong understanding or related experience in construction trades, industrial equipment, transportation in oil & gas industries.
  • Experience as a regulator, safety manager or safety system auditor are considered assets.
  • You’re honest and trustworthy, are results oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
