                                                                                                         EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The New Brunswick Forestry Safety Association (NBFSA) is seeking an: Executive Director to lead the Association. The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set out by the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:


As the Executive Director you are responsible for;

  • Implementing successful programs to improve the level of safety in member facilities.
  • Working with member companies to identify needs and gaps.
  • Preparing and implementing the strategic plan on the future direction of the association.
  • Preparing and overseeing the implementation of annual budgets and acting as the steward of the Association funds, through WorkSafe NB – the funding partner
  • Overseeing the creation and review of technical safety training programs
  • Prepare and make presentations regarding workplace safety issues to various industry and public
    groups
  • Work with Government and WorkSafeNB on prevention initiatives
  • Managing the relationship with a Not-for-Profit Board of Directors, made up of industry
    representatives
  • Improving the Association reach across the province, evaluating sales and marketing plans, and
    ensuring value for money services to improving safety in the forestry sector in New Brunswick

Core Competencies:
Successful candidates for this position will have the following competencies:

  • Familiarity with the Not-for-Profit sector and Association structure
  • Leadership skills to set plans and execute on them
  • Work independently and manage a small Association team
  • Fluent in writing and conversation in both English and French is an asset
  • Management skills and knowledge in financial management (budgeting and statements)
  • Knowledge of the Forestry sector in New Brunswick is an asset. Candidates with experience
    working in the NB Sawmills (or related sector) would be strongly considered.
  • Familiarity with the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Individuals that
    possess formal training and certification in Health and Safety, or willing to obtain a certification will be given additional consideration
  • Sales and marketing experience would be helpful in promoting the activities and services of the Association.
  • Be an effective communicator

 

Candidates with post-secondary education in a related field and discipline is preferred
Travel throughout the province is a part of this role. The Association’s office is located in Miramichi, NB and the successful candidate is welcome to deploy a hybrid work arrangement. The New Brunswick Forest Safety Association (NBFSA) is a not-for-profit organization that endeavors to create a positive, proactive safety culture within the forest industry of New Brunswick. Our goal is to significantly reduce the occurrence of workplace accidents through safety training and education such that the forest industry of New Brunswick stands as a national leader in their collective commitment to, and their practice of, effective preventative workplace health and safety programs.
