Viterra is seeking an Employee Health & Safety (EH&S) Business Partner to support our operations in Manitoba and South Eastern Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the EH&S function through the implementation and support of the EH&S policy to ensure effective risk management, regulatory compliance and proactive management strategies. This position is accountable for the development, training, monitoring and reporting of EH&S programs and procedures, while providing support to appropriate operations staff and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and provide technical support and manage safety, health and environmental policy, programs and procedures, including guidelines for specific issues and best practices, within a respective geographic area.
  • Manage, coordinate and conduct corporate environment, health and safety risk management activities, including risk assessment evaluations of facilities.
  • Review submitted incident investigations, and provide feedback to staff and management recommending corrective actions, in order to facilitate a safe workplace and ensure legal compliance.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with business unit and department managers, and other internal contacts in the development of comprehensive site management plans.
  • Develop, maintain, manage, coordinate and conduct EH&S risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with corporate policies.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication including presentation/training skills.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
  • Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of word processing, excel, database and presentation applications within a Windows based operating environment.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience working in EH&S related fields with related systems and processes, adult education and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Preference will be given to those who possess a proven knowledge and understanding of governmental regulations at the federal and provincial/state level.
  • Post-secondary degree in a natural or applied science and a registered professional designation.
  • Must be willing to travel to operational sites within Manitoba and Saskatchewan, as well as corporate offices as required.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
