With widely increasing numbers of opioid poisonings/overdoses across Canada since the beginning of the pandemic, St. John Ambulance is partnering with Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to provide critical training and Naloxone kits to support the homeless population across the country.  
In this brief overview, we will discuss: 
  • Building rapport with your community through de-stigmatization and harm reduction ∙ Assessing risk while conducting a rescue 
  • Identifying the symptoms of a poisoning 
  • Employing opioid emergency poisoning protocols 
  • Administering naloxone 
  • Covid-19 protocols during a rescue 
  • Continuing life saving procedures 
  • Handing off rescue duties to ems
