Guidelines

Communities are here to provide you with a friendly environment where you can discuss ideas, give advice, and converse with fellow members. They are at their best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you conduct yourself accordingly.

The guidelines and rules listed below explain what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other members. Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive, and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. As such, the moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate. Your access to these communities is a privilege, not a right. CSSE reserves the right to suspend your access at any time for reasons that include, but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines.

Here are some common courtesy guidelines to follow. They cover more specific examples of common errors that may lead to thread deletions or posting privileges being revoked.

  • The communities are for discussion of topics directly related to the Practice Specialty or Common Interest Group you're participating in.
The communitiess are specifically to discuss the related topics (e.g. construction). Any posts not related to your chosen Practice Specialty or Common Interest Group are subject to deletion.
  • Don't post in all capital letters, use a misleading title, excessive punctuation, or non-standard symbols.
While everyone wants their post read, we ask you to refrain from using these types of tactics in order to make it more visible. Let your post stand on its own merit.
  • There will be no use of the following:
    • profanity
    • advertising
    • trolling — deliberate offensive/provocative post to upset someone or elicit an angry response
    • spamming — send the same message multiple times
    • racial, ethnic, gender based insults or any other personal discriminations
